Cylinder

The tube in which the Piston is encased and slides in. The cylinder is usually strongly constructed to take the pressure from the Boiler . Steam is introduced under pressure to the cylinder via a pipe from the Boiler . This Steam then expands in the cylinder pushing the Piston up thus creating mechanical energy.
